Sons of the Trumpy and Life Equals $75,000 of Hot Cash Per Diem

Thanks the browser for remembering my shopping history. Sometimes it can be awkward. With all the stuff I have to search on Amazon as a means to price match for customers, I keep getting promo emails telling me about similar deals that I have no interest in.

Otherwise, when soccer kids and dreadful graduation weekend guests are consuming your time, not losing my basket at Hot Topic is great. Most importantly, it allows me to get at least one set of blogs out for the week. The next big advantage is that I am so fried mentally, I will not necessarily write a long entry and can utilize all $75 of my Hot Cash.

What they are is a person who denies the need for communism despite their dependency on the welfare state. They are another American who stands by, no one will be inspired to work in a socialist state despite how I can argue that it would do the opposite of that. Thankfully, this party does not watch the right wing news outlets, so their only opinion on Sweden is that it is the happiest country in the world. Hence, rethinking their argument about too much socialism would be wise. Too bad I still have to take the piss out of that when I mention the suicide rate. Would a pleasant country give us "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"?

Schrodinger's Cat: Rationalizations of an Existentialist (Part 5: Cat Tats and Tatters)

I was a little stressed out about starting this blog. Not over the content, but whether or not I could deal with an over reaction to the post after I put that Facebook post and Tweet out there. This is how I make sure I keep up my writing, but also how I kill time at work. Post it too early in the evening, I may have to deal with the panic and my inevitable mental breakdown for a few hours on the clock.

Rationalization 13: Timing makes a cool tattoo

Backlash shouldn't be an issue since I started writing this after my first shuttle run, so I'll have traffic to slowdown my progress. Still, remember I am driving people around till 12:00 am CST February 8, 2014. Please hold back your phone calls and text until all of the hotel's guests are tucked in their beds or pondering whether or not they needed that late night stop to Al's. Don't worry gents, it shows up as B.A. Restaurant, Inc. on the credit card statement.

It may just be LLC...if I go into why I think that, I may not be allowed back in.

Video Games Cannot Be Sacred

Current mood: lethargic

Just picked a couple of titles for the Wii, but I am still determine to work through the sadly addictive nature of "WWE: Smackdown vs. Raw 2008" before I put that on the GameStop trade in pile (If I could get more than $11 buck for it, you'd see it on Half.com). I say sadly addicting because what ever drug it could be compared to, they cut the hell out of it.

...

Still, I cannot say that I wasn't curious about the program that is capitalizing on G4 choosing to show "Cops" and "Cheaters" most of the time. Their pitch: Video Game Burlesque Tribute. On cable? Something tells me they'd be messing that up?

I mean, I cannot come up with a gimmick to leave Chun Li with only pasties on. Can you? Are these girls genuine burlesque performers, or the Midnight Strip girls complaining about not getting enough exposure for their recently purchased upper torso enhancements?

Ed Brubaker's Angel of Death: The Reason I Kept Renting Instead of Buying

Finally, directors are utilizing the ultimate kick ass chick, Zoe Bell.

For those who object to the dialogue (being unrealistic, "girls don't talk like that") in "Death Proof", they could still enjoy the film's FYR element of a real stunt woman being the lead character thus making the experience of sitting through the film's first half and "Planet Terror" a worthwhile one. In an industry that is more faddy than NFL offenses, it was only a matter of time for another director to try and capture what carried the last two acts of a Quentin Tarantino film. Sadly, "Angel of Death" did not have the means to capture all of Zoe Bell's awesomeness, but it's a start, and well worth my waiting for a month for it to enter the "5 Day" rental category.

Eve has been the best hit person for the Downes Family because she does not question the orders her agent gives her and she won't take time for regrets. This all changes when she takes a four inch blade into her skull. No seizures, no sever headaches, but she starts to experience hallucinations of her past assignments. To put an end to these demons, she is going to try and set all her wrong rights by stopping those who put the innocent at risk.

This maybe the nerd in me, but any film that features an awful demise to a Ted Raimi character is worth seeing. When will they start putting that on the box art? If anyone was considering renting "JCVD" before they saw "My Name is Bruce", the fact that they off two of his characters would change their mind.

"Ed Brubaker's Angel of Death" was the perfect script for an actress just starting her career. Memorize some dialogue. Show some visceral emotion. The performance should be golden. If you followed Marilyn Monroe's career, her scripts may have been simpler than that. The supporting cast is able to show their want for the project to work, and Bell's fight scenes are wonderful and adhere to the limitations of reality.

There is no "Wire Fu" and most importantly if follows this rule:
If a girl gets hit by the guy, the tide of the fight totally changes. So if you are the girl in an inter gender brawl, DON'T GET HIT!
If there is anything unrealistic about the film's fights, it is why do all these Italians have Japanese body guards? Japanese body guards who are proficient in Kung Fu. Of course, we accept the premise that one will survive taking a knife to the top of the skull, so we are best to ignore the comic book elements in Brubaker's script.

And when it comes to comic books, director Paul Etheridge is able to capture the feel of one like the 80's Hasbro Boy Toys cartoons did. The editing effects seem appropriate, and the color schemes seem like they are pulled out of a pulp fiction magazine. They seem tacky at times, and perhaps this film should have just been shot in black and white, but this is a film directed by an art department guru, so it is to be expected.

The main flaw of the direction is that it does not make the performers seem alive. This is what a live action motion comic would look like. If it wasn't for the fight scenes, Zoe Bell's starring role would have been wasted.

Ed Brubaker's Angel of Death is an adequate start to Zoe Bell's acting career which is worth seeing if you are a fan of the legend. The technical qualities can drag the picture down, but the intent to create a comic book like character is apparent, and the efforts by the crew can be appreciated.

If a director can capture the good things that Angel of Death did well along with the few good things about "Ultraviolet", we should get a great movie. Or set of movies. I guess Angel of Death shows me why I like Timur Bekmambetov films so much.

So if you cannot stand subtitles or Angelina Jolie and Common, Angel of Death might just be the film for you.

90-Minute Netflix: Future World - The Charm James Franco Was Hiding

A long 90 minutes feels like a first for me. I have seen bad and wretched hour-and-a-half lengthened features, but I could never say long. Lengthy is something that may not hold your attention, but it may not be the genre. Low budget knock offs are what Blockbuster Video fans long for. If the concept is as good as James Franco's "Future World" and featuring a Milla Jovovich role, I am in it till the last minute.

Ash (Suki Waterhouse) is a robot built at the peak of technological advancement. Realizing the history and malice of her creators that lead to an apocalypse that lacked zombies or nukes, she decides to erase her memory. It is better to be a relic than a tool. Unfortunately, an artifact is not what Warlord (Franco) and his bikers need.

Prince (Jeffrey Wahlberg) was born in the oasis, a peaceful commune in the scorched wasteland. Peace is maintained because they have the only working ammunition in the world. When Prince's mother (Lucy Liu) falls ill to the plague of the era, the red fever, he determines that by packing a little heat, he and his compadres can make it to Paradise Beach and find the cure their matriarch needs. Of course the luck runs out when they run into Warlord and his new robotic bride.

After murdering a few people and dealing with the annoyance of Warlord's presence, the awoken robot decides she needs to set some grounds for morality. Saving Prince and sending her husband on a wild goose chase seemed to be a good start. If she can get the kid to Paradise Beach and the cure, all should at least be even Steven. Surely there are no more nuts of higher acclaim in the cast. Jovovich only plays stable characters...right?

The cast of "Future World" knows what you are supposed to do with a film seeming inspired by "Cyborg 2." That is to chew the scenery and enjoy every bite of it. With Snoop Dog and Method Man in the cast, fans of B-movies know this will not be a waste of time.

You have to have a taste for the tacky to enjoy a flick like this. The actors are here to have fun and get scale. When you arrive on a "set" where it is jut a burnt out hotel with some faux graffiti, what else are you going to do? If you do not focus of being over the top, the movie is going to be "Cyborg."

The ActioneerNow, I dug "Cyborg" because no one seeming could act, so it is a fun train wreck. "Future World" qualifies as a movie. The script is articulate enough and it may have the talent to be a respectable "Road Warrior" knock off. It has a quest that feels like an 80's animated film, and if you have that, I will feel nostalgic. "Future World" can only be a B-flick, so it is a success.

For those who need a well-made film to keep their attention, the lack of well-made inanimate object will have you turning this title off. Wise scenery choices instead of minimal effort could have made this an American "Mad Max." I at least hope that is what director Franco was going for. Sand is the best looking part of the sets. I suppose only George Miller is the only person who can shoot that.

"Future World" was probably a wild pitch that took any money it could get. You have to respect it for letting Jovovich do what she does best. It has to be appreciated for not being overly complicated sci-fi to justify its shortcomings. And any movie with Snoop as the Love Lord is worth $1.75.

Why they didn't put that in his billing may be the dumbest thing this film did.
