Nothing seems to be working out for CatBusRuss. He is doing a lot better mentally, but that maybe out of spite. The day after he finished producing "Toss Back Tuesday: Jim Carrey Under 100 Minutes", the podcast scheduling plans were all screwed up. "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" was the big Blu-Ray release for June 6, 2023. Its theatrical run was released the week prior to the April movie CatBus wanted to see the most, Nicolas Cage starring as Dracula in "Renfield", so the resources our host used to find out that the physical release date of the Nicholas Hoult film was going to be a week after the billion-dollar cartoon seemed correct. You can only imagine his dismay when he started ringing out customers who brough up the vampire disc along side the plumber flick.

Russ did get around to seeing the movie when it was still in theaters. This would have been in its third week of release. As noted in "Nicolas Cage & The Unbearable Weight of Massive Filmography", our host ended up dealing with unexpected cancellations of this feature during its second weekend. He decided to sit on the review he recorded from the parking lot. Being the only other person in the cinema for the flick, expecting the physical release to be just a couple of weeks away seemed like a fair assumption. Sadly, Comcast/Universal seemed to do nothing but fumble in their efforts to make this feature profitable. Fortunately, "NinetyForChill: The #Podcast" is going to make an effort to further make this feature relevant.
Allow me to get out of third-person. Happy Prof. Shurtleff of Illinois Central College? I (CatBusRuss) will try not to make so much light of violent death in this summation. This is my declaration of changing perspective.
Things are looking up for me. Next week, I will be in England with my dad to watch the Cubs beat up on the Cardinals (I really need to make the time to get up to Wrigley for a game this year. I also need to follow what is going on at The Vick and The Metro as well.). Next week's podcast is just editing away from completion. If I stay productive in my off time (Why the hell am I doing laundry right now? Upgrading my PS5 was one thing.), an episode should be released while I am on the other side of the pond. It also helps to have the Podbean feed to move episodes from when I have an existential crisis.
I am almost at the point that I am thinking about begging for support with Patreon. No bonuses for anybody, just trying to see if my existence is appreciated. In other words, there have been some past podcast guests that I cannot rely on.
Last week was supposed to have a guest per my schedule. No one offered, so I tried to rely on someone who I had hoped would understand my situation. That turned out not to be the case, just the personality.
Since they are one of my oldest friends (Please pardon the passive aggressiveness.), it left me thinking about my current situation. I have a fair amount of debt (I would rather enjoy adulthood until my inevitable prostate cancer diagnosis.). Can I survive without familiar support? Yes. Knowing that I have family who does not want me hustling anymore than I do should be great. But what are they getting in return on their investment.
It has been nearly two decades of this existence. I have been spending all of adulthood trying to succeed at my passions. Too bad no one gives a shit about these. Why am I being supported if I am not doing what they want me to pursue? Am I to just grow up and accept making money is the only purpose of adulthood? If others are (seem) happy doing this, am I fucked up for not? Am I just a fuck up?
And of course I am not comfortable enough with my latest group of friends to be this open about my dealings. That sucks. If I were, Skimble would have probably gotten a wake.
I am still determined to keep up the podcast, but the past week was tough. Unless guests want to stay up late, Sundays are the only day that I am certain can be made for podcasting. With that said, if you have a movie or topic that you want to chat about, send an email to russthebus07@gmail.com.
