I Dig Crazy Flicks with @CatBusRuss
Episode 280 - Sex-Mas in July: "Mysterious Skin", "XX/XY", ThePoeticCritic", and "Young Adam"
CatBusRuss really needs to focus on coming up with clever names for episodes. If he is pulling one from the original "Ninety For Chill: The Podcast" (available on the "I Dig Crazy Flicks" Patreon), going off the movie titles, he may forget what the conversations were about. Chatting about holiday cinema with ThePoeticCritic seems a bit off when it is placed between reviews for relationship/sex dramas.
Or he needs to research the discontinued feed via his laptop instead of Apple Podcasts. Was this episode still going to feature reviews about the relationship/obsession problems that Mark Ruffalo endures in "XX/XY" and the Ewan McGregor relying solely on sex to survive the monotony of mid-century Scotland in "Young Adam"? Yes. But maybe he would have saved it for December. The laptop would have let him see the Holiday Sandwich portion of the title.
Just consider Russ's decision to drop this #RewindWednesday release the result of his 23 years in customer service. He is a slave to the sales tactics. This is his Christmas in July.
And with this being a holiday, he decided to treat himself by watching another feature from New Queer Cinema maestro Gregg Araki. There are still a few films for him to catch up on, and "Mysterious Skin" reminds him to be prepared for anything. Our host is beyond familiar with Araki's subversive tendencies, but he was caught off guard for a relatively grounded tale of embracing and suppressing trauma. In the end, it fits perfectly with the other two reviews, and the tale does conclude at Christmas.

Episode 281 - The Peacock PoeticCritic Panini: 'Super Mario Galaxy', 'Obsession'
And CatBusRuss's reactions to coming attractions.
With our host's new job, it is tough to find time to visit his family back in the Heart of Illinois. So ThePoeticCritic jumped at the chance to talk about the state of cinema currently and the near future. #Filmsky is not big enough enough to contain all her thoughts about the world of movies.
Russ does like to offer opinions on fun films, so he needed to come up with a theme for a pair of movie reviews to sandwich the conversation with his big sister. Being a fan of alliteration, the podcaster decided to head to Peacock to find those movies. The films he chose are two of the biggest this year, definitely the biggest from Universal thus far, "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" and "Obsession". This episode definitely offers something for everyone...along side our host's favorite sound bytes.
As for what ThePoeticCritic brought to the table, she just needed to hear her little brother's reactions to some coming attractions. How does CatBus feel about:
- Coyote vs. Acme
- Jumanji: Open World
- Forgotten Island
- Wildwood
- The Cat in the Hat
- Avengers: Doomsday
- Ebenezer
Surely some of them are going to be winners. If you are looking for a snacking lock, try a flavor from
